Hi, Robin. I've tested the build in the last few days. The CPU thread local display is very precise, compared to previous implementation.
I've fixed the issue. It was CPU throttling. All that time, I thought that there is some unfinished thread or memory leak, since the lags took place after some time. After different tests and investigations, I figured out that cpu throttled a lot, from 2.5 GHz to 0.5-0.8 GHz. There is no software way to stop it (and we shouldn't actually) so for now I added additional cooling and removed the case. Temperatures went from 85° to 65-75°C. J4125 is able to capture with flats enabled at about 10fps, which is HUGE. Now there is no lags (except focus or aligning, but thats fine).
Out of interest, I've tried the old net7 version and it runs a few degrees cooler (if we are evaluating this way). Probably that's why I noticed lags even more, cpu clock drop was not that big. Anyway it is uncomparable to what I'm having now.
I've also tuned target display fps to the value of 0.55 which is enough for 10fps with flats(!).
PS j4125 appears to be pretty powerful, I've designed a 3d case for a pc with better ventilation

Re: Performance issues
Hi,
good detective work on the CPU throttling - I hadn't even considered something like that being the cause of the issue! Cutting back the available CPU cycles by 80% or so would definitely have a big impact.
Also good to hear that the new measurements seem to be more accurate. Actually a significant CPU speed change is one situation where it might mislead the new measurements, since it now uses CPU cycle counts for the thread load (the old way was rather crude for small loads or small changes in load). I should maybe recalibrate the CPU cycles per second every 10 seconds or so as currently it calibrates just once.
cheers,
Robin
