Hello, I will preface this by noting that recent ZWO 2600 MM cameras have been problematic with firmware (2 for me), and in the process of resolving the issues, ZWO also gave me an updated driver that is not released. It is at least 3 versions ahead of the Nov 2025 driver.
So now I have a unique problem. My 2600 MC Pro (from 2021) works fine only with the Nov 2025 driver in Sharpcap. If I use the Jan 8 2026 driver that ZWO gave me, Sharpcap crashes only with the ZWO 2600 MC Pro camera. It works fine with the ZWO 2600 MM Pros that I have.
On the 2600 MC Pro and the Jan 8 2026 driver, the first sign of trouble is that the temparature control does not seem to work in Sharpcap. Fan spools up to 100% but the reported temperature stays at whatever the ambient temperature is. Then Sharpcap tries to reconnect and then says basically restart Sharpcap or restart the computer for normal operations.
Is there anything I can do to get the 2600 MC Pro working with Sharpcap using the Jan 8 2026 driver? Or do i need to keep replacing the ASICamera2.dll file in the Sharpcap folder when I switch cameras (which I do fairly often)?
For troubleshooting, I tried Nina with the Jan 8 2026 driver for all 3 2600 cams (mono and OSC) and it works fine.
Thanks,
Sanjeev

Re: Compatibility with ZWO Camera Driver
Hi Sanjeev,
it sounds like the updated ASICamera2.dll file is the cause of the issues for your 2600MC, even if it is helping with the 2600MM
The only thing that I can think of to make things easier for you is to make a copy of the SharpCap install folder somewhere else on your PC. Now with two copies of the SharpCap application, you can put the new DLL that helps with the 2600MM into one folder and keep the original DLL in the other. You can now run SharpCap.exe from the correct one of the two folders depending on which camera you want to use without any issues (you can create desktop shortcuts for each to make it easier).
By the way, it's great to hear that you are working with ZWO to resolve the issue with the 2600MM - let's hope there's a new version that fixes the issues for both cameras soon!
cheers,
Robin

Re: Compatibility with ZWO Camera Driver
Ty. So right now asicamera2.dll file is in c:\programs\sharpcap 4.1. Would I copy the sharpcap 4.1 folder to say something like 4.1-MC, replace the DLL in one of thoseand have two separate shortcuts?

Hi,
yes, that's it - SharpCap almost entirely relies on the files in the directory it started from, so by making two copies of that directory you can have two versions of SharpCap with just that ASICamera2.dll different between them.
cheers,
Robin
