Hi
In a sequence, I'd like to GOTO some RA/DEC coordinates.
Can I use the format, e.g., for M1
MOUNT GOTO "M1,RA=05 34.5, DEC=+22 01"
THANK YOU
Carlo

Re: SEQUENCE: MOUNT GOTO
Hi Carlo,
yes, it will accept co-ordinates in 3 part format (Name, RA, Dec) and is very forgiving about the layout of the RA and DEC parts of the co-ordinates - if you paste the value into the box in the sequence editor it will pop up a little window showing how it has interpreted the co-ordinates so that you can check that it has dealt with them correctly.
Basically, what I did with the text to co-ordinate conversion is found every possible text representation of M42 co-ordinates that I could online and then improved the code until SharpCap could interpret all of them correctly
cheers,
Robin

Hello,
That is an exceptional capability of SharpCap that accept fast anything without crashing.
All the other software designer should have a look at SharpCap.
Or you can try yourself with other software ... if the coordinates does not match exactly, then it does not accept the input.
One empty character too much or the wrong separator ... and the other software does not work.
Regards,
Jean-Francois

Re: SEQUENCE: MOUNT GOTO
Hi,
I do have to admit that now and again the 'accept everything' approach to co-ordinates does trip up - I've had a few cases where numbers or commas in the name of the object trick the code into thinking that they are part of the co-ordinates. If I catch this happening I do my best to fix it (and add unit tests to prove it stays fixed as I evolve the co-ordinate parsing code in the future).
cheers,
Robin
