Seestar S30 Mount Not Connecting

#1

Post by davemartin88 »

Hi, tried to use Sharpcap to control my Seestar S30 this morning and Sharpcap would not connect to the mount on the Seestar. Camera, focus, and filters worked. I was using software version 4.1.13901 which is the latest available. Received a message saying that "Constructor on type "Ascom Alpaca Clients not found". I rolled back to Software version 4.1.13789 and the mount was found. I had used this version previously with no issues. I downloaded and installed the latest ZWO and Ascom drivers but still couldn't get mount to connect in the latest version. Will use the older version but understand you have added a way to increase the camera window size/orienation in the latest version which I would like to try. Thanks.

Hi,

thanks for the report - I am seeing the same bug here. It's going to be somehow related to the ASCOM Library update that I brought into SharpCap this time around - maybe some file that needed to be updated didn't get updated? I will investigate and report back.

cheers,

Robin

Before rolling back to the previous Sharpcap version in order to be able to control the mount, I noticed that I wasn't getting the camera in a landscape mode which I thought was a change in the .901 release? Is this something I need to activate or take an action to see? Looking forward to the improved view! Thanks.

Hi,

I found the problem with the telescope driver, so there will be a fix in today's update. The horizontal seestar view is an option that you may need to turn on in the telescope settings (Cameras page, in the ASCOM section). If it still doesn't work then let me know the exact name that comes up for the camera in the SharpCap menu, as the enabling of the horizontal image is based on the camera name.

cheers,

Will try the update ASAP. I found the option and will try that for the landscape function as well. Thanks.

Happy to report that Sharpcap and my S30 are communicating. Mount connects and landscape option works as well. Thanks for the efforts!

HA.
Glad I searched before posting about the Seestar mount driver not working.
Thanks for the Seestar mount fix for Alpaca.
Always amazing how on top of things you are.

I received a Seestar S50 today and after making sure it was working correctly with the ZWO app, I connected it via station mode to Sharpcap. The camera, focuser, and filter wheel connected without an issue but couldn't get the mount to connect. Tried to open the Setup function within the mount window and it took quite some time but opened an Ascom window to configure the mount. Turned out, the IP address was incorrect and looks to have been using the IP address of the S30 Seestar I used last night. I changed the IP address in the configuration window and was able to get to the browser Alpaca setup and connect to the mount. Worked fine in Sharpcap from there on. Will have to investigate a bit more to see if this happens again or if I have the same issue the next time I try to bring up the S30 or to use both at the same time? As usual, with my new equipment purchase, calling for clouds for the next 3 days. Thanks for the efforts so far!

Hi,

be sure that you have the very latest SharpCap version to avoid the mount connection bug being discussed further up this thread. It's a shame that you cannot yet use the Alpaca driver to 'unpark' the mount (fold out the arm) - that still requires the app as of my last check.

cheers,

I confired I was using the latest version of Sharpcap. I will try again later to work with both the S30 and S50 and be a bit more methodical with the testing. Agree that it's a shame you can't unpark the mount, maybe an update later! Will let you know what I find.
