Comet tracking

Hi Robin,
I wanted to thank you for the excellent comet tracking you developed. I was shooting swan last night and due to its high relative speed against the backdrop I couldn’t get a shot without elongated coma. I clicked the comet alignment and it worked perfectly. My rig is a dob on an equatorial platform with guiding in ra only yet comet guiding still works. Great job. The link is before and after comet guiding.

Thanks folks - glad that this is working well! Hoping to add a comet GOTO feature too in the near future so that you can paste in the orbital elements that are on sites like the minor planet center web site...

I use cartes du ciel linked to sc to goto comets. Not sure which service cartes gets its info, but works well.

Does comet tracking only work with the SharpCap pro?

Hi,

yes, that's correct - it's a SharpCap Pro only feature, so you would need a license. You can try it out without a license in evaluation mode, but will be unable to save your images in evaluation mode.
