v4.1.13096 - odd behaviour on refocus with 2 instances

Hi, Robin,
hope you're well? Sorry, weather's bee terrible, so only been out once so far this year...

A bit of an oddity: I have 2 instances running along side one another, the first one opens a very helpful dialogue on using "refocus", with a <cancel> and <emergency stop> buttons, which are most welcome, but the second stubbornly won't open it, even when it's refocusing alone, rather than in parallel with instance#1. Surely they shouldn't know anything about one another, here?
(Log snippets from#1&#2 attached - I was trying to abort #2, as I'd done with #1, since I'd mistakenly started with 15s exposures, instead of 4s).

Sorry, I should have added that I searched around as best I could to see whether it was hidden anywhere, but if it was, it seems Windows is better at hiding things than I at finding them ;-)

Cheers,
Carl

Hi Carl,

I don't think there is any reason that the progress window wouldn't show at all, so my guess is that it is off screen for some odd reason. There is a keyboard procedure to rescue an offscreen window in MS Windows... Once you have the window you want selected as foreground even if you can't see it, press

Alt Space
M
Any arrow key once
Now move the mouse

If you have just done the refocus and not touched anything else then the mysteriously hidden progress window should be selected, so this proceduce should work.

Just so you know, the way things are supposed to work is that SharpCap should place the progress window near the top-right corner of the SharpCap main window, so that it overlaps the top of the control stack and some of the image area. It also tries to put it back on screen if it is moved offscreen - I suppose maybe the latter could be activating for some odd reason and causing problems.

If you can't get it back manually, or if you get it back but it then happens again, let me know, as I could add some logging to this area to track down why it is going wrong if necessary.

cheers,

Robin

Thanks, Robin.
I tried this, but without success.
The only significant non-standard thing about my PC is that I have MS PowerTools installed, and use this to "fancy frame" my 4K monitor into 2 smaller frames, one for each SharpCap.

Cheers,
Carl.

Hi Carl,

interesting about the powertools/fancy zones - that window tries to place itself near the top right of the screen that SharpCap is on, so by trying to discover the screen and the screen bounding co-ordinates, it might interact with fancy zones in an unusual way. I will drop some logging into the next version so that we can track where the window decides to place itself and see if that helps reveal anything.

cheers,

Robin
