Hi,

please press the button to send the bug report if you are prompted to do so and are connected to the internet when the issue happens. Ideally, post a screenshot of the 'send bug report' message here so I can go and find your particular report .

If you are not connected then you can go to the SharpCap logfile folder (choose Help->Show Log, then choose the 'Locate on Disk' button to show the *current* log file on disk - the previous ones including the crashes will be in the same folder). Once you have the log, post it here and I can investigate.

thanks,

Hi

yes, you should find the logs from previous runs of SharpCap in the same folder (about 30 days worth or so). For most types of crashes, SharpCap can write all the required information to the log before closing.

What camera are you using? I can see some uploaded bug reports for 4.1.12419, but cannot easily identify which ones are yours without some additional information - knowing the camera would probably be enough.

thanks,

Robin

Hi,

I have found some bug reports that might be yours - they show a 705 and 405 camera and all seem to be related to SharpCap running out of memory. The system has 4Gb of memory, but the thing that is causing the immediate problem is that the system swapfile settings seem to be set to be very small, which is preventing SharpCap allocating extra memory backed by the swap file.

If this sounds like your setup, then you might get better results by changing your Windows settings to increase the size of the swapfile - either set it to at least 4Gb, or change the settings to allow Windows to manage the size of the file. How to adjust this setting will depend on the version of Windows you are running, but instructions can be found online.

cheers,

Robin

I adjusted the memory to 8000, as a google search said you can put a number like 4 times your current RAM, i set it to 2 times more

I asjusted the memory swap file, sharpcap still crashing, nownits a total nightmare it takes 2 photos and crashes instantly, what am i supposed to do now? Does the 32 bit use less memory? From task manager the cpu usage is at 70% when sharpcap is opened which should be good i guess

Hi,

you mentioned that it used to be fine, but now crashes regularly and you think that was associated with updating SHarpCap. You don't happen to know the version numbers for the 'older' version that last worked and the 'newer' one that first saw the errors did you? Narrowing the range of changes that might have caused the issue down is always very helpful.

cheers,

Robin
