Live stacking RGB with mono camera

#1

Post by Broz »

Is it possible, perhaps with the folder monitor, to live stack a color image using a mono camera and RGB filters in a filter wheel? This has probably been asked before, but I have not been able to find anything searching the forums. Thanks,

Hi,

sorry, no real way to do this at the moment other than to do individual stacks for each of the R,G and B filters and then combine them in something else after they have been captured and saved.

You could automate the separate stacks and the filter wheel changes using the Sequence editor, but you will see monochrome images in SharpCap throughout and only get your colour when you combine the 3 channels later.

cheers,

Thanks Robin, any thought as to adding this capability in the future?

Hi Broz,

yes, it's something that has come up from time to time and it's on the radar, but there are a number of other ideas all fighting to be at the top of the to-do list!

cheers

Not sure if this would be an easier way out, but I think Jocular can do this by monitoring a folder that has the R,G and B (maybe L too?) subs. This might avoid having to modify the live stacking interface. Anyway, just a thought. I have not moved to jocular because of all of the other capabilities that Sharpcap has by comparison. Thanks again,
