Windows Taskbar function changed?

#1

Post by Anthony Quintile »

I just uploaded the latest version.

Previously, I could place a shortcut in the taskbar in Windows 10 next to PHD2 and then conveniently click back and forth between the two.

Now, when I open Sharpcap, another icon is created at the end of all of my taskbar icons in an inconvenient place, and I keep accidentally opening another session of Sharpcap from the icon next to PHD2 when I forget and try to switch between PHD2 and Sharpcap.

I apologize if I am being an idiot and just not adding the shortcut to the taskbar correctly/as I had previously? Or is this some differencee in the newer version of Sharpcap?

Hi,

there is some extra support in the latest versions of SharpCap to separate different versions of SharpCap in the taskbar if you are running more than one copy. For instance

* If you run SharpCap 3.2 and 4.0 at the same time they will not stack on top of each other (but two 4.0s will stack together)
* If you run SharpCap 4.0 64 bit and 4.0 32 bit they will not stack
* If you use the advanced options to have different settings copies in SharpCap 4.0 then copies of SharpCap running on alternate settings will not stack.

This was an end user request, and it also affects SharpCap when running stacking with an existing copy pinned to the taskbar.

I think that you will be able to fix this by doing the following

1) remove the existing version of SharpCap from the taskbar (right click, unpin)
2) Run SharpCap and pin the new version to the taskbar (right click, pin to taskbar)
3) Move the new pinned version to the place that you want it to be.

At least, I hope that will work :)

cheers,

Robin

OK, at least I know I am not being an idiot.

Let me go try to move the icon around and see what happens.

Thanks!

OK, so maybe reiterating your post, but this is the process to locate the shortcut icon where one would like in the task bar:

-SC closed, unpin any instance of a shortcut icon in the taskbar.
-Open Sharpcap
-Right-click icon that will appear in taskbar and click "Pin to taskbar"
-Drag that icon to the location you'd prefer in the taskbar.
-Shortcut should now stay at that location whether Sharpcap is running or not.

Hopefully this helps someone else!
