Hi
I’ve been capturing 200-300 exoplanet transit images per session using SC. Each of these comes with a text file which I need to manually delete - rather a pain.
Is there some way to shut off these pesky text files?
Thank you!
Gary
Ps, When capturing individual Dark Frames, is there a way to shut off getting the Master Dark - another unnecessary file I need to delete since calibrations are done in AIJ and Master Darks are produced there.
How do I avoid text file with each image capture?

Re: How do I avoid text file with each image capture?
Hi Gary
I presume you mean the CamerSettings.txt file. You can disable that under File - SharpCap Settings - Saving. There under Saving Capture Information, uncheck the first box.
On darks, I also use other programs to make my master dark. I just take them like normal but then with the Dark Frames selected in the drop down menu (see screenshot). In the FITS header those captures are now set to Darks and recognized as such by other programs.

Yes, in the way described above.
Just make darks the same way you make your lights, with the difference being that you cover your scope and you select Dark Frames from the drop down menu shown in the screenshot. You can give them then any name you like.
The dark frames are then saved just as light frames and you can then make a master dark with your preferred program.

Out of curiosity, why do you use a different program to create the master dark, and what are the benefits?
Re: How do I avoid text file with each image capture?
Hi Calan
Main benefit is flexibility. I seldom use the Live Stacking feature of SharpCap myself, I use either DeepSkyStacker or SiriL to stack the separated captured lights/subs.
If I make my master dark in SharpCap, those programs can act weird with them. DeepSkyStacker for example works best when it creates and uses its own made master dark. So I let DeepSkyStacker or SiriL make their own master dark files (and master flats and master darkflats).
This way I can switch between 3 different programs for stacking. SirIl for example works the best for me when stacking Ha/OII captures.
Hope this explains it a bit
