QHY5 mono only worked once

I'm having issues with my QHY5 mono. It worked the first time i connected it to SharpCap Pro to do plate solving polar align.

However the next night i got scrambled image with no details.
The driver sets it to colour space set to MONO16. The only option.


When i connected it to PHD2 (ASCOM) it was working as it should.


After many MANY tries of disconnecting the USB and inserting it i finally got it working with ASCOM driver in SharpCap Pro.
Notice the ASCOM driver has the colour space set to MONO8


After the above ASCOM connection i picked "Close Camera" and connected to it directly in SharpCap Pro
Same deal and again MONO16 colour space.

unfortunately, the newer version of the qhy software that SharpCap needs to used to support the most recently released cameras don't seem to work as well with the older models of QHY camera. The two options that you have here are to use the Ascom driver as you have already discovered or to try going back to an older version of SharpCap to see if you can find one that will talk happily to your QHY5M (try 3.1 and 3.0). In theory this is something that QHY themselves could fix in a future update to their SDK software, but my suspicion is that these older models are not at the top of their priority list right now, so I wouldn't hold my breath for that.
