Re: .SER as standard!
Hi,
this is most likely related to one of a number of settings that can control the output format. The things to check are
* The 'Start camera in auto output' option in the saving page of the settings - if this is turned on then the output format will be set to 'auto' by default when opening a camera - this chooses a still image output format form longer exposures (>2s or so) and a video format for short exposures. The formats chosen are the ones selected as 'preferred' in the saving settings (mostly - sometimes if your 'preferred' option cannot support a particular bit depth then a different format that will work must be chosen).
* Whether you have selected the 'automatically restore last used camera settings' in the general page of the settings - if enabled the SharpCap will try to restore the settings that you used last time with the camera - which may have had an output format set that is now being restored
* Whether there is a 'default' capture profile set for the camera - this means a set of camera settings that SharpCap will automatically load when opening the camera, overriding the normal defaults for the camera. See https://docs.sharpcap.co.uk/4.1/#Capture%20Profiles
Any of these could be bringing the camera back to JPG or PNG output each time, but as you can imagine, each of them can also be used to ensure that you get the right output format when starting the camera (for instance saving a camera profile with SER selected, then making it default).
cheers,
Robin
