I learned today that shooting in bin2 with my osc camera does not give color in my subs

I have been imaging m13 at bin2 without getting any individual star color

Cloudy nights ppl told me not to use bin2 with sharpcap as color is lost

Is it possible to shoot in bin2 and still retain color?
Needs something called “superpixel”

Hi,

it depends on the brand/model of camera and (in some cases) on the exact settings. Many cameras keep colour when you go into a binned mode, but not all. What are you using?

Mallincam DS26colour

Hi,

that's not expected and must be a quirk of the Mallincam model if it is doing that. I don't have a Mallincam to test with, but do have the Altair 26C, which is basically the same camera, and that does give me colour in binned modes (unless I select the MONO8 setting, which obviously then gives mono always).
