If you have a ToupTek IMX585 GPS camera and are having problems using it in the SharpCap 4.2 beta, you may need to update the camera firmware to get it to work properly again. Please read the below carefully before proceeding:
* SharpCap 4.2 beta currently (19th May 2026) has a newer version of the ToupTek SDK than SharpCap 4.1 - this newer version does not recognize some early GPS versions of the ATR585M as having GPS support - this is because ToupTek have changed the USB IDs of the GPS model for production cameras.
* If your camera shows as an 'ATR585M' in SharpCap 4.2 and you get no GPS controls or GPS status window (but you do in SharpCap 4.1) then this may be affecting you.
* You can update the firmware and FPGA on your camera to the versions used in the production cameras to fix this, but this will stop the camera from working in SharpCap 4.1 until 4.1 gets the same ToupTek SDK update.
* The firmware update package is available here : https://downloads.sharpcap.co.uk/misc/A ... 251216.zip - please read the instructions carefully and watch the enclosed video showing how to upgrade before trying to upgrade your camera. If you disconnect the camera or the power fails during upgrade then the camera may need to be returned to the factory for reprogramming - it may be a good idea to upgrade from a laptop with a fully charged battery!
* After the update, SharpCap 4.2 will show your camera as ATR585M-GPS and you will have GPS functionality available. SharpCap 4.1.14298 and earlier will no longer detect the camera after the upgrade. I will put the new ToupTek SDK into a future update of SharpCap 4.1 which will resolve this issue - or you could copy the toupcam.dll file from the 4.2 beta SharpCap install over the one used by SharpCap 4.1
Note that the FPGA update is not required to make the camera work with the new SDK, but it resolves some small issues with image quality in earlier FPGA versions.
