I've broken it

Post by Haitch »

I've been uninstalling and reinstalling different versions to try and troubleshoot some problems I've been having with my Toupcam 2600c and I seem to have broken the install somewhere along the way and now I get this message and and I can't install a new version or uninstall the old (which now won't open either). Is there an installation clean up tool?

Hi,

I think what has happened is that some of the files that form part of the install - that Windows should keep handy while the product is still installed - have gone missing. That means that when you try to uninstall, it goes looking for those files to work out what the uninstall should actually do, and can't find them - giving you the error that you are seeing.

The fix for this is usually fairly simple - check the exact version number that you have installed and find the installer for that version number. If you have previously downloaded it then it may still be in your downloads folder, otherwise download it again from our downloads page. Then re-run the installer for that version and it should prompt you to repair or uninstall (since it will spot that it is already installed). Both should work, since it can find the files that it was previously missing from the download. You can either uninstall directly, or (I think) repair, then the normal uninstall should work.

cheers,

Robin
