A very minor but curious problem really.
After installing v4.1.13800 update today I went to restart the programme and the desktop shortcut had gone, I keep the icons for astronomy/photography programmes on the far right of my desktop and all other programme icons on the left.
A short search found the icon, it had sneaked into an empty space on the left side of the screen and was easily dragged and dropped to its original location.
I don't remember seeing this happen after any programme update, could be a Windows problem.
Trivial but thought I should mention it, perhaps other users have seen this behaviour?
Cheers, Gary

Re: Windows 11 Desktop icon/shortcut moved after SharpCap update.
Hi Gary,
the way that SharpCap does updates is more an 'uninstall the old version and install the new' all rolled into one action. There is a concept of true updates for Windows applications, but they are a lot more hassle to manage, so a lot of software does it the way that SharpCap does...
I just did a test upgrade after moving the shortcut to a custom position and I see the same behaviour - during the upgrade the shortcut vanishes as the old version is uninstalled, then it re-appears in a default position on the left as the new version is installed.
I don't think there is much that I can do to fix this. It might not happen on some upgrades if the time delay between the old one vanishing and the new one taking its place is too short for Windows to spot the switch happening, but it is certainly possible that it could happen on any updgrade.
One workaround would be to create your own shortcut to SharpCap.exe - that one will stay put as it will not be touched by the upgrade (or install/uninstall) process.
cheers,
Robin

Thanks Robin,
It's a 'feature' of Windows then! Thanks for the explanation.

Re: Windows 11 Desktop icon/shortcut moved after SharpCap update.
Hello Gary,
I have this behaviour all the time.
The SharpCap icon is placed at the first "free" place from the left first column.
But in the past ... it was sometimes different ... the SharpCap icon was at the second place from the left-upper corner.
And all other icons from the first column were moving one step down.
