Hi Robin,
I was just investigating the new color calibration function and would like to get your input to see if I understand correctly.
In a Cloudy Nights post you stated the following:
“It's quite correct that there is no need to do the background subtraction if you plan to do the color calibration - the calibration will include setting the background subtraction for you (although not necessarily quite the same as the auto background subtraction button will).”
So...
Under Camera Controls > Preprocessing > Background Subtraction – leave this turned off.
In the Live Stacking window > Background tab – no need to use this when utilizing Color Calibration with the Also auto adjust stretch box checked?
Is the above correct? If not would you be so kind to straighten me out on how to use these settings?
Thanks,
Dave

Re: Color calibration
Hi Dave,
for the Camera Controls->Preprocessing->Background Subtraction, there is no point in using this with colour calibration unless you are deliberately using one of the gradient removal options (Linear/Non-Linear/Low Frequency Wave).
For the background subtraction in the live stacking - this is automatically set when you use the colour calibration, so again, no need to mess with this (apart maybe from fine adjustments after the calibration). This applies always when using the colour calibration (it will turn on background subtraction in live stacking and set the values), regardless of whether the 'also adjust stretch' box is checked.
Hope this helps,
Robin
