Hello,
How do I record in mono with the Uranus C camera?
I only see that it can record in MONO 8.
Is there another way to record in mono with my Uranus C color camera?
Yesterday I found out that FireCapture can record in 12-bit mono.
Does Mono 8 mean it records in 8-bit mono on Sharpap?
Regards.

Re: How to record in mono with the Uranus C camera?
Hi,
getting mono images or video from a colour camera *always* involves first turnign the RAW bayer colour images to full colour, then converting the full colour to monochrome. The Player One SDK does not support getting 12/14/16 bit mono images from colour cameras, so if this is available in FireCapture then it must be doing the conversion from 12/14/16 bit colour to mono itself before showing/saving the images.
That's a pretty fringe feature that can be achieved by capturing RAW16 and then using a tool like PIPP to convert, so I don't see any real use in implementing it in SharpCap.
cheers,
Robin

Re: How to record in mono with the Uranus C camera?
Hi;
So you can't record in Mono 8?
I did it this way yesterday.
I'll try recording in Raw 16 and then converting it to Mono from PIPP.
From FireCapture, you can force recording in mono and it will record in 12-bit.
The Player One SDK in FireCapture does allow recording in mono by forcing it.
If you need that SDK, I have it and I can send it to you. It was modified a year ago to have a more normal white balance.
If you want, I can send it to you if you give me an email address.
To perform astrometry I record in fits ( FITS )
I've attached an image.

Hi,
you can capture MONO8 from a colour player one camera in SharpCap because the PlayerOne SDK supports that conversion. There is no option in the SDK to directly get MONO16 from a colour camera, so you can't do that in SharpCap, and I don't see it as a feature that SharpCap needs to add.
thanks,
Robin
