Use of SVBONY SV605CC

I am thinking of getting a DSO camera for my NexStar 8SE alt/az mount. I am looking at the SVBONY SV605CC as it is similar to the ZWO ASI533MC Pro in many ways. Have you heard of any issues with using the SVBONY SV605CC with using SharpCap Pro 4.1 and SharpSolve with Ultra High Res idex files for platesolve and sync of the StarSense initial 4-star alignment?

Before getting involved with any new kit, I always run the hardware combinations through the Astronomy Tools website FOV calculator at https://astronomy.tools/calculators/field_of_view/. I think you mentioned M31 in one of your other posts.

I have looked into the app and here is what I got. This looks great if it can happen but not sure what the exposure or how many subs it would be? Also, does not know what it means with SharpCap Pro - I just wanted to make sure it will work OK with no issues.

What that image shows you is the image that particular telescope/camera will produce. This is regardless of the capture software used. To work out suitable exposures consider using the Smart Histogram in SharpCap (refer to the manual for further information). There is no single ‘right answer’ for what you are asking.

I just wanted to make sure the SVBONY SV605CC is able to work with SharpCap Pro 4.1. I don't want to get it and find out it does not. That is really the main question I have.

Does anyone know of any issues?

Correct me if I am wrong but after a bit of search, I found "General Forums - SVBony Driver Question" which confirms that SharpCap Pro 4.1 has no issues with the SVBONY SV605CC?

Hi Edmund,

SharpCap works fine with the SV605CC (and the mono version the 605MC for that matter). I am lucky enough to have those cameras here to test with, and have in fact been working with SVBony on support for those cameras from before their launch

That is great to know. I am stuck between the ZWO ASI533MC Pro and the SVBONY SV605CC. My NexStar 8SE has a very hard limit on weight and not sure why but it seems the SVBONY SV605CC is around 1.4Kg and the ZWO ASI533MC Pro is around 0.9Kg which may not be a big deal for most equatorial mounts, but for the NexStar 8SE it is. The price difference is tremendous.

Not sure how I should choose since I am fighting inside between cost and weight and also believe quality too, I believe.
