Touptek Drivers on Mini PC

Hi everyone

My Apologies if I am posting this in the incorrect forum, but need some help. I often use a Gstar-EX3 Touptek Camera, old but still works fine and SharpCap runs it marvelously. However I've just purchased a mini PC running Windows 11 pro and the chip is a Intel N-150.

It shows in the device manager as USB 3 Camera with no driver available. I have tried everything to install one, but doesn't work. just shows it unplugged. There is another laptop in the house with Windows 11 and intel core i5 and works perfectly.

I was thinking that probably the i5 laptop has had a few builds of Windows going through the upgrade path and this mini PC has the new build only and maybe Touptek haven't signed off on the drivers correctly for the newest edition,wouldn't have thought the chipset would be the issue.

The ZWO cameras and QHY cameras I have work just fine in the new PC and SharpCap.... so??

Any input gratefully received.

I believe i have tried all that, uninstalling, Latest Touptek drivers and Sharpcap, different cables etc and as i say the device manager in properties shows nothing, no driver path, company etc..

Just a thought - what is the USB level of the camera and the port that doesn't work, also the camera and the USB port that does work? Sometimes mixing USB2 and USB3 devices/ports/cables doesn't quite work like the manufacturers claim.

The Touptek camera doesn't work in any USB port of the Mini PC, not seen by Touptek's own software latest versions e.g Toupsky. Any case odd, been doing this a long time and haven't had that issue before. Not to worry though, mainly use the ZWO and QHY gear now and that works perfectly in any USB port. I sent an email to Touptek as well.

P.S. The port where the camera works is another laptop not this mini PC...... That laptop is powered by an intel core i5 and the mini PC is the new Celeron chips which intel call N series, there's a heap of em.... N95 N100 N150 and so on.

Also one on my friends who loves Windows thought it may be that as of November last year Windows were not supporting any drivers not correctly digitally signed off and this mini PC has a brand new Windows 11 installation not an upgrade like the other laptop, so he feels its Touptek's driver software might be the problem.I'll just keep an eye on the website if any updates happen..

Hi,

this is a Windows 11 security thing - in the 'Device Security' section there are settings related to 'Core Isolation' and I think the ToupTek driver is old, so it is not compatible with those security settings being turned on (I think it's the Memory Integrity one, but not 100% sure). Disabling some of the security in that are should allow the driver to be loaded, then you will find Windows reluctant to turn the security back on because of the incompatible driver in use.

Newer ToupTek cameras do not require the ToupTek driver (they can work with a Microsoft supplied driver that avoids this problem), but the old ones are affected by this problem on Win11.
