George,
I was curious about phd2 and alt az mounts. I found you can use phd2 but you need to make some changes to make it work. Cloudy nights has some links to instructions

hello,
I have not been able to get out to the field lately and thus I am just now getting back onto sharpcap. I am seeing that the newest update has plate solving improvements. Are these improvements the ones you were telling me about? fingers crossed lol

Hi,
yes, lots of improvements to plate solving, the most relevant to you is the ability to download an ultra high resolution index which will solve down to about 0.1 degree FOV (providing there are enough stars in the image). You need to download this index in the plate solving settings page, then select it so that SharpCap will use it.
cheers,
Robin

The skies are looking kind for a good night out in the field!
I downloaded the newest update for SharpCap and went into the plate solver menu to download the new library. I only see .5 and .25 degree indexes. is the new library included in these indexes?
I have included a screen shot of the menu. Please also tell me if any of the settings need to changed in the menu as well.

Hello,
You need to click on "Download Index File", if you wish to have the "0.25 degrees" index.
May be the selection of the "0.1 - 0.125 degrees" index will be visible only if you have downloaded the "0.25".
It should be:

Jean-Francois

I had to reinstall sharpcap for that menu to change to what you had. I now have the ability to select the .1 index.
