New ZWO ASI6200 mono

#1

Post by jpberger »

Hi there, the camera connect to Sharpcap but the image generated is totally black when I use Normal speed mode.

When I used the High speed mode, I was able to get a photo if the exposure time was under 1 sec. More than that, the image is black.

The camera works well with the ZWO software.

Do I need a new driver for the camera?

Can you help me please?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

it's certainly worth making sure you have the latest version of the ZWO Camera 'Windows System Drivers' - a very old version might cause problems. Also check that your version of SharpCap is up-to-date - again, an much older version may not work properly. See our downloads page at https://www.sharpcap.co.uk/sharpcap/downloads for the latest version.

It's probably also worth turning down the 'Turbo USB' setting to see if that helps. The ZWO software may run the camera with that at minimum, but SharpCap leaves it on 'auto' by default.

cheers,

Thanks Robin!

It changed nothing with the newest ZWO drivers, but it works with the latest Sharpcap version.

Do you know if I need to enable or disable the new setting USB Hub Reset?

Best regards

Hi J-P,

glad to hear that the SharpCap update fixed things. I haven't encountered the USB Hub Reset option before, but I have a guess that if you switch it to on and then off, it will disconnect the devices plugged into the hub on the back of the camera and then reconnect them. That would be a nice way to recover a device if it started misbehaving and you are not able to easily unplug and replug the device.

cheers,

Robin
