Stacking saved image data - applying flats

#1

Post by Mr. Phil »

I have been practising DSO image stacking in Sharpcap using saved flat and image data using the "Folder Monitor Camera" option. The FITs images stack fine when you play the saved image frames 61 off 8secs. There are also flats files that I would like to use as well, however when you use "Apply Flats" and browse to the files it looks like they are not used. Is it because the files are not "live" and so cannot be pre-processed as the image data is not from a live camera. If so is there a way of applying darks and flats in this practice mode as enjoying the practising before I get my own data as Im new to astrophotography and its such a huge learning curve but most interesting.

Hello and welcome

When you use Apply Flat, it looks for 1 file: the Master Flat file. This is the result of the stacked Flat files.
When you use the Capture Flat option under Capture, it will capture the flats and then make a Master Flat.

Hi,

please update to the very latest version of SharpCap from our downloads page (https://www.sharpcap.co.uk/sharpcap/downloads). You are encountering a bug with the flat correction and the folder monitor camera that was only fixed about 2 weeks ago, so you almost certainly have an older version that still has the bug.

thanks,

Robin
