New Computer - Profiles etc.
Just got a new astro pc. Is there some files I can copy that will bring over my profiles and general settings. I am lazy about typing in the multitude that I am looking at...

Re: New Computer - Profiles etc.
Well I am going to answer my own questions and Dave thank you for reminding me...
1) Capture Profiles > Manage > Show on Disk - This brings file explorer right to their exact location waiting to be copied. Do the same in the new computer and you will be able to accurately paste them in the correct spot. Dave of course the location you gave was accurate just an easier way to get there, but thank you for your help!
2) As far as general settings: at the bottom of the setting window/box is an export option and of course an import option as well.
Thank you Dr Glover for making it so easy!

Re: New Computer - Profiles etc.
Hi,
glad you found the export/import functionality. The export actually includes the capture profiles, custom deep sky annotation catalogs, sensor analysis measurements you have made and a few more things along with the settings. The one thing that export/import doesn't do for you is your SharpCap pro license key (I had concerns about people sharing their license keys inadvertently that way).
cheers,
Robin

Re: New Computer - Profiles etc.
BTW I did transfer the license and was hoping by converting the old computer to Linux and therefore destroying the old copy of SharpCap I will not have issues with my new install?admin wrote: Thu May 22, 2025 2:24 pm Hi,
