For some time, I’ve been imaging with the ZWO ASI 482 MC camera attached to the Celestron Nexstar 6.0, using ASCOM and SharpCap, without any issues.
Recently, when I powered up the rig, I was met with a black screen. When I increased the exposure, the screen became super grainy.
In an attempt to fix the problem, I reinstalled both ASCOM and SharpCap, double-checked their settings, as well as the scope’s. Everything seemed fine, but nothing worked — not even after nearly wearing out the Ctrl key trying to start with the last known good settings.
In ASICAP, the camera worked just fine.
BUT — and this is a BIG but — while tinkering with SharpCap once more, I found a button in the site’s footer labeled “Reset Settings.”
I clicked it, and a new menu appeared with two helpful options: “Reset all SharpCap saved settings” and “Delete all capture profiles.”
I selected both, restarted the laptop, and to my immense relief — voilà! It worked!
I hope this tip helps anyone else who’s in despair like I was. Cheers
