#1

Post by y3000 »

I got a qhy585m, install the most recently driver "QHYCCD_Win_AllInOne.24.12.27.10", when use it with SharpCap and change ROI several times, SharpCap will display an error and wait a while and quit, what's wrong ?

Hi,

checking through the log files, they all have lines that record the QHY camera disconnecting from USB, like this

Code: Select all

Info   	21:57:40.090161	#1 	Received hardware removal event for \\?\USB#VID_05E3&PID_0610#6&3af0f9ce&0&5#{f18a0e88-c30c-11d0-8815-00a0c906bed8}
This is SharpCap recording a notification from Windows that the USB device has been lost - if you have sound on your PC you will hear the 'ding dong' sound from Windows that indicates a device has been removed - just like if you pull the plug out. This is *probably* an indication that the camera itself is no longer responding to USB messages - perhaps the internal systems of the camera have hit an error condition (ie crashed).

When this sort of thing happens, SharpCap's response is to wait to see if the device reconnects within 30s - if it does, SharpCap tries to automatically reconnect and carry on imaging. If the camera is not responding though, it probably requires a reset by unplugging/replugging the cable before it has any chance of working again.

I have the colour version of this QHY camera and have just been testing it to see if I see anything similar, but I was able to change resolution many times without any problems happening. I have QHY driver 23.12.26 on my machine, and I am using the same version of SharpCap as you.

If you are using USB hubs or extension cables, I would test without those, and also try increasing the 'USB Traffic' setting as that can improve stability of the camera connection. If none of that helps, then check to see if there is a firmware update for the camera or see if QHY have any ideas about why the camera disconnects in these circumstances.

cheers,

Robin
