Hi Robin,
Few nights ago I went to the desert for EAA, and faced a strange issue.
I am using SVBony SV605cc along with AZ-EQ5 interfaced using SynScan. It works very well at home, but when I opened SharpCap in the desert, after launching the SynScan app and verifying it controls the mount, Sharpcap refused to interface with the mount. I straggled with it for about an hour and eventually found that if I connect my laptop to the internet using tethering from the phone, SharpCap interfaces SynScan, and after words I can even disable the tethering, and SharpCap continues to control well the mount.
Please advise what should I do to enable interfacing the SynScan app from SharpCap, without needing to have a momentary web connection.

Re: Needs internet connection for initially interfacing the mount
Hi,
I'm fairly sure that this is coming from the Synscan app, not SharpCap. I have just checked by unplugging the network from my test machine and I can connect to my iOptron mount no problem with no internet connection, so it seems to be a problem specific to the Synscan app.
I must admit that I don't use the synscan app myself for my Skywatcher mount - I used to use EQMOD and now use GreenSwampServer - both are usable ASCOM drivers for the mount, and might be worth trying.
cheers,
Robin

Thanks Robin.
I looked at EQMode and GSS and is seem they both supports Equatorial mode only, no Alt-Az. Do you know if there is a potential solution for working in Alt-Az mode?

Re: Needs internet connection for initially interfacing the mount
Hi,
sorry, no idea I'm afraid - my Skywatcher mount is a classic NEQ6, so AltAz is not an option.
The only thing I can think of is that there is an older Skywatcher ASCOM driver (not Synscan app) that might be OK and might support AltAz - the download is the lower one on this page : http://www.skywatcher.com/download/soft ... om-driver/
cheers,
Robin

Re: Needs internet connection for initially interfacing the mount
I can confirm that the computer sharpcap is on needs to be on a network in order to successfully connect to the syncscan driver, otherwise there is a "no device found" error
The network don't need to have internet connection. I connected the pc to a portable hotspot which the internet connection was disabled

Hello Elad,
May be you allow a network at the installation (first start) of the Synscan software.
Or you select the Network connection ... I have normally "Seriell".
And finally ... have a check under the properties of the selected mount in SharpCap Settings.
Uncheck the "Search devices when connecting" ... I guess it will solve your problem.
