I have two Player One Uranus-C cameras that I use together in a dual scope setup. I run two instances of SharpCap and connect one to each camera, but both cameras are listed in each instance as 'Uranus-C (IMX585) (9000)' so I can't distinguish between them. I need to know which camera each instance is connected to because one of the cameras may be upside down (to avoid cable bending), and only one has the electronics focuser and filter wheel fitted. The only way to tell them apart at the moment (when the cameras are outside and I can't wave a hand in front of them) is to compare the fields of view of each, which can be a bit hit and miss when it's just a star field and before they are properly focussed.
SharpCap knows that there are two cameras and lists them separately as two distinct objects, so is it possible to give them unique names to allow them to be distinguished properly?

Re: Distinguishing Identical Cameras
Hi,
you can give the cameras a custom name, and SharpCap will read it, but SharpCap doesn't have code to allow you to set the custom name built in...
Fortunately though, the PlayerOne camer ASCOM driver does let you set the custom name, so if you install that, open the camera in SharpCap (or any other app) via the ASCOM driver once and then show the ASCOM camera settings for the camera, you will get a 'CustomID' button at the top right that lets you set the name you want for each camera.
hope that helps,
Robin

Hi Robin,
Excellent! That's now all fixed.
Thanks once again for the fast and helpful support.
The Astroasis Focuser V2 works just fine with SharpCap by the way. There is even an ASCOM driver for it that will support up to three identical Astroasis focusers which I have installed and am using (with just the one I currently have at present).
