Restarting camera

#1

Post by MikeB838 »

Hi

I use the live mode with a PlayerOne Neptune-C II and the Live-Stack.

When I switch to a new target and press "Clear", the stack is resetted but the capture process at the camera continues and is not restarted.
I have to wait until the running frame is completed.

As a workaround I switch the exposure time to another value and back to the wanted value. Then the camera starts a new frame.
And I clear the stack for this new session.

Is there another (easier) way to accomplish that?

Or is this a feature wish like eg. using the "Ctrl" key with "Clear" to also restart the camera together with resetting the stack?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

the only easier thing I can think of is to use F1 then F2 as a shortcut for the exposure change/change back as they are the hotkeys for decrease and increase exposure. There isn't any code to try to restart the frame when resetting the stack, even with the camera in still mode (where it would make quite a bit of sense to be that way).

Why do you need to reset the frame at the start of the new stack - if you are using long(ish) exposures and the mount has moved to the new target recently, consider usign the SharpCap 'Goto Target/Catalog Co-ordinates' tool for the movement. That tool interacts nicely with live stacking and can

* Save and stop your current stack before moving the mount
* Reduce exposures down to about 4s during the mount move
* Restore exposure when the move is complete
* Plate solve/sync to center target
* Start a new stack once at the new target

This should all work nicely, including starting a new frame of full exposure length as the new stack is starting (the reset from 4s to full exposure will do this)

cheers,

Robin

Hi Robin,

thanks for the infos, but it seems logical for me to have the abillity to start the camera at will. F1/F2 helps but is it possible to add a setting, that a clear of the stack will also restart the camera? That would be great ;-)

The "Goto Target..." tool is interesting but seems too complex and not adequate for my purpose. I'm very fine with selecting my targets in Cartes du Ciel (CdC) and slewing my GOTO mount (okay, I have to do the resync manually).

I mainly slew to Asteroids: CdC shows the predicted position and I need the visualized to compare that with the real position on my stacks.
And I want to select targets not by it's designation but visual in the vicinity of the target before.

May be I have to start scripting ;-)

Cheers

Hi Mike,

fair enough - everyone has their own workflow. Maybe an option would be the best choice for this sort of thing... I will make a note and try to add something when things get a bit less hectic.

cheers,

Robin

Hi Robin,

thanks for taking a note!
And I hope "less hectic" is not wishful thinking ;-)

Thanks again for all your exceptional help and work. I use Ctrl + Save every session :-)

cheers
Mike
