Livestacking DSO dark and flat problem

#1

Post by Lammertus »

Hi all,

I am testing Livestacking at home using data I shot with my ASI1600MCC OSC camera.
As I preprocess using APP, I create my master dark and master flat with that program.
In Sharcap 4.1 I can not load the resulting masters into it if it hasn't got a 16 bit TIF or PNG
format.
The resulting image when dark subtracting is odly colored and histograms are clipped on the
left.
When no dark or flat are selected all goes well as expected.
Is there any way to load the masterdark and masterflat in their fits ( either 16 or 32 bits ) format?

Thanks for any insight on this!
Regards,

I'm sorry to have raised this question since I just tried to save the masterdark and flat as 16 bit integer type fits files
and that works.
So the conclusion is that 32 bit fits Mdark and Mflat files will not load.

Best regards,

Hi,

yes, you are right - there is only very limited support for 32 bit depths in SharpCap - some internal live stacking data is held that way and you can save the live stack state as 32 bit. I'm certainly not planning to add full 32-bit support, as it would involve a lot of effort making many image processing algorithms cope with that bit depth as well as 16 bit. It might be possible to load 32 bit data and convert to 16 bit on load though...

cheers,

Robin
