Type of file to capture images in Sharpcap Pro?

Hi,

looks like your saved files are in FITS format.

Some FITS viewers only show monochrome views of the image (this happens because a colour FITS image is really 3 separate images in one FITS file - a red one, a green one and a blue one that need to be layered together). For instance if you use FITSLiberator to open a colour FITS file, it looks monochrome, but you will see that there are 3 planes listed in the 'Image data' drop down.

PIPP (Planetary Imaging Pre-Processor) will open this sort of FITS file and show colour, as will other programs like GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program - with the right settings), Affinity Photo, PixInsight, Deep Sky Stacker and probably more.

Dobsonian Power members explained me to save from the buttons near main histogram.I double saved from there : "save with adj." + "save exactly as seen"+ checked in every place to have setted PNG (Otherwise they told if one see stacked frames colored on screen, there must be sure PNG's)

Hi,

we limit the size of uploads to the forums to 1Mb - otherwise the backup requirements to keep lots of large files backed up would get excessive.

For large files, please use another upload service (dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, etc) and post a sharing link so others can download the files.

All members in Discord "Dobsonian Power" told to "save with adjustments" and "save exactly as seen" from Save button of main histogram, sharpcap saving them as PNG.Today I start to check every setting and noticed that in sequencer wich I use allways when opening camera was sett "output format Fits", so changed there to PNG.Otherwise they said that if image isvseen colored on scriin Scharpcap save with that buttons as PNG's. What do you think this was the problem due saved pictures were not colored? Don't know if colour format wich sure is of utmost importance must be Raw16 or wich one.

Hi,

if you use the 'save exactly as seen' or 'save with adjustments' buttons in live stacking (or the little save icon in the mini histogram which does a 'save exactly as seen') you will *always* get a PNG, regardless of settings in sequencer, etc.

Yes, I am sure the things stay so, my fellows at Dobsonian Power also assured me of PNG.Despite I saved last set of pictures in these two ways, until now don't know why, I seen no single PNG colored picture. Today I started to check every single setting.In sequencer, camera settings I noticed that had output format Fits and changed today to RGB24, hopping the future 4-rth set of pics will be colored.I left members contradicting themselves because in responce to one's proposal to set RGB24, other responded that I will loose data/quality.By now I am determined to accept thecimpromise of low quality level in exchange to see some colors.
