Hi everyone,
I am a SharpCap newbie, having spent much time with ASIAIR. I'm using SharpCap 4.0 (Windows 10.0.19044) and have had no problems plate solving with ASPS, but when I try to use ASTAP, it keeps extracting the entire h18 database -- and even after all that, it does not plate solve. Both ASPS and ASTAP are found automatically by SharpCap in the Plate Solving settings tab with no difficulty. I have tried moving the h18 database to the same location as the ASTAP app itself, in Program Files x86, with the same result. I also tried deleting the h18 database entirely, downloading it again and re-installing it; no difference. There is plenty of disk space on my hard drive, though the h18 database does take up 1 Gb. Yet whenever I try to do plate solving using ASTAP I get a lengthy extraction of the database but no plate solve. I can use ASPS but I have a small FOV and want to try that big h18 database. Help!
JT.

Re: Problems with ASTAP h18 database
Hi JT,
not something that I have seen before, but if you can post a SharpCap log showing the problem it will contain the command line sent to Astap and the output produced by Astap, which might help work out what is going on. It might be worth asking on the Astap forum on Sourceforge too - https://sourceforge.net/p/astap-program/discussion/
cheers,
Robin
