Re: Questions about Japanese localization of SharpCapUserManual
Hi,
And apart from...
Programs > Toolbars > Focus assistance
Please modify the following Japanese strings.
"Histogram Range (Brightness Range) Detection"
Before correction:
「ヒストグラムレンジ(輝度範囲)の検出」
After correction:
「ヒストグラム範囲(輝度範囲)の検出」
This is because the 'Range' (レンジ)in Histogram Range is not equal to the 'Range' (範囲)in (Brightness Range).
Also,
In the Camera Control Panel section, you need to correct the underlined text below.
Please modify as follows.
"use View > Reset Control Order from the main menu"

and,
Camera Control Panel > Mini Histogram and Display Stretch - section
(... . the 'Save' icon within the mini histogram area...) I inserted the following icon image between the characters because it is difficult to know which icon the 'Save' icon in the text refers to.
You can see more details here in the link "See mini-histogram and display stretching for details" , but we think it's OK to duplicate this section.

Hi,
Camera Basics > section of Live Mode and Still Mode
In the following text,
「Some of the options in the Display Effects (FX) dropdown.」
'Display' is 'Preview', right?
Also,
Some of the options refer to which of the following options?
If it is clearly known, the following text may be appropriate.
「Some of the options in the Display Effects (FX) dropdown - ××××× Options for」

Hi,
yes, display = preview here.
The items that require live mode are currently:
Frame Stack(3/5/10)
RGB Align
Stop Motion Video
cheers,
Robin

Hi,
No, it doesn't.
Please do not abbreviate 'Some of the options'..., but add specific text as shown in the underlined part below.
Some of the options in the Display Effects (FX) dropdown - Currently, Frame Stack (3/5/10), RGB Align, and Stop Motion Video require Live mode.
Not only this, but I always believe that UM must remember to create from the user's perspective.

Camera Basics > Uncompressed Colour Spaces > 'RAW16' section
What do the following unfamiliar letters mean?
'dynamic range'(ダイナミックレンジ)
I looked it up and I think it means "the range of light that can be exposed", is that correct?
If this is true, please add a note next to 'dynamic range' in the text:
'dynamic range (the range of light that can be exposed)'
ダイナミックレンジ(露光可能な光の範囲)
The following is the definition of dynamic range:
Dynamic range is a numerical value that represents the ratio of the maximum and minimum values of a processable signal, expressed in units of dB (decibels), and this "processable signal" refers to "light" in the case of a camera.
In other words, dynamic range refers to the "range of light that can be exposed" in a camera.
A camera's sensor has a limit to the range of brightness and darkness it can capture. This is why objects that are too bright will be blown out and objects that are too dark will be blacked out.
There is light that a camera can capture and light that it cannot capture.
The specification of a camera that we should look at when we want to know the range of light that can be captured is the "dynamic range.
and,
Camera Basics > Compressed Colour Spaces > MJPEG section
The following additional explanation is definitely needed for 'compression artefacts'.
'Compression artifact' is a noticeable distortion of media (images, video) caused by the application of a data compression method in which the data before compression and the data after compression and decompression do not perfectly match.
Always from the user's perspective...

Re: Questions about Japanese localization of SharpCapUserManual
Hi,
I have now updated the translation - you will see that in next week's update.
Dynamic range :
Here it means the ratio between the brightest thing in the image that can be captured without quite saturating the camera and the dimmest thing that can be noticed against the background noise. An increase in noise will reduce the dynamic range, a reduction in noise increases it. Stacking many frames increases the range.
Compression artefacts :
Changes to the image caused by using compressed file formats (JPG, WMV, etc) to save images. These typically reduce the quality of the image, but may be OK for some users who want to dramatically reduce the output file sizes.
cheers,
Robin

Re: Questions about Japanese localization of SharpCapUserManual
Hi,
Thanks, that gave me an idea to add a glossary of terms for 'Dynamic range' and 'Compression artefacts' as text.
Also,
Capture Formats Explained > SER section
Since the download page of the PIPP website was not updated, I made it possible to download the SER Player application (v1.7.3.2 --8 languages including Japanese) that I cooperated with Japanese localization. (http://docs.sakuraweb.com/download/SER_ ... .7.3.2.zip)
and,
Modify the text "A SER Player application can be downloaded from the PIPP website." as follows.
"To download the SER Player application (v1.7.3.2), download the compressed folder (.zip) from here, unzip it, and install it. It can be used in 8 languages including Japanese."

Re: Questions about Japanese localization of SharpCapUserManual
Hi,
I'm afraid I have other Japanese users telling me the exact opposite - that it should be 'ヒストグラムレンジ検出(輝度範囲)'
I can't judge between the two options and Google Translate gives what looks like a reasonable translation for both.
Its clear that there will be no easy agreement on this. Perhaps there should be a poll on a Japanese astronomy forum to allow a majority consensus to be achieved?
cheers,
Robin
