Unable to Choose less than 10 Alignment Stars

The Manual Says: "A minimum of 3 stars is required for Live Stack with alignment to work. However, for reliability and good alignment a star count of 10-15 or more is to be preferred." With my small field of view, I at times run into the stacking error message when galaxy hunting in remote...

Re: Planetary Live Stacking ?

Thanks for pointing that out to me. I did not know that feature was there. I searched the manual by the wrong keyword ( User instead of Camera ) Will Experiment. Love the videos that Mike ( Borodog ) has been posting. I cant wait until he gets some clear sky to see him set up live and set the ROI. M...

Re: Planetary Live Stacking ?

I had similar thought but my idea was User Profiles for DSO and Planetary usages. Thru time, experimentation and help from others I was pretty happy with my DSO settings. It took much uumpf to get the nerve to wipe them out to try the Planetary Feature. The new Planetary imaging tool is an Amazing f...

Re: New Feature : SharpSolve - SharpCap's new built-in plate solver

+1 for 0.25 FOV . My 6Se with .reducer and Player One Uranus C camera is 0.34 and my 11SCT with same camera is 0.22. I have to use binning X 2 to get fairly consistent solving with ASTAP now. ( D80 database ) Would be so nice to have it work right within Sharpcap . Thanks so much - You're Amazing !!...

Re: Having trouble plate solving

Thanks Neil:

I use a value from solving one of the images from each scope at Astrometry.net
1029 for the 6se and 1685 for the CPC 11.

Appreciate your time to help,

Mike in Oregon

Re: Having trouble plate solving

Thought I would follow up. Issue resolved, Thanks to help from Robin - and others on CN and Han at ASTAP. I deleted all my software and reloaded from scratch. I had been reluctant to do so for fear of losing what I had. New ASCOM and Drivers - New ASTAP Suite 6.6SP1 - New CPWI 2.5.2 - and Newest Sha...

Re: Having trouble plate solving

I would be happy to help. Its Memorial day holiday here. I'm away from my gear. I would gladly send files when I get back home. ----------- When the slew issue happens its not long after clicking START. Even the Longest Slew is not over 60 seconds. It checkmarks the jobs and begins the plate solve w...

Re: Having trouble plate solving

Some progress to report . A friend in Mid USA sent me an image that was known to solve . I had wondered if my Images were the issue - or my equipment - or my settings -- or ....... ?? About a week ago I caught a one hour window of clear sky and I captured some images in areas with good star fields. ...

Re: Having trouble plate solving

Just a note to let you know I have not dropped out. Coastal Clouds have been rolling in evenings leaving some odd time one hour windows. Making some progress - trying some new things and getting better at using ASTAP site to gain information. Time goes by Quickly when trying ranges / combinations of...
