Re: NGC 5430, a Wolf-Rayet galaxy

Thanks Randall! :)
Don't know how many captures you made or what your staking and processing process. Or the sky quality: this night was very good with very low seeing.

Re: NGC 5430, a Wolf-Rayet galaxy

Thanks Tim! Because of NGC 5430, I now know about WR-stars :) And it's actually not so hard to find information (I think ). If I look for information on lets say M51, I get tons and tons of pages with info. And that makes it hard to search for remarkable things. But for the (more) unknown objects, t...

Re: NGC 5430, a Wolf-Rayet galaxy

Thanks Robin :) I found a NASA/ASP paper from 1982 that suggests that this knot (which also contains a lot of O-stars) is caused by a collision of a irregular dwarf galaxy with the disk and bar of NGC5430. That would also explain the somewhat odd shape of the upper arm (this is my own thought). It a...

Re: SCT Collimation,

You can make the Circle Reticule smaller (or bigger) by holding your right mouse button and then drag.
This combined with making the out of focus star bigger (zoom in with Ctrl pressed and then scrolling with mouse wheel) gives good results here.

NGC 5430, a Wolf-Rayet galaxy

It's been a while that I've been able to capture but there was an unpredicted very clear night (finally!!) And again with a more illuster "smaller" target: NGC 5430. I really do like the "underdog" objects over the big(ger) spectacular ones :D NGC 5430 sits at around 130 million ...

Re: Filter Selector in DashBoard (Camera Controls)

Same here :)
It's now 100% a part of my workflow in the sidebar. From top to bottom: check size and format, set initial time and gain, check white balance, set cooling temperature, enable mount control, enable virtual filter selector. Works just great :)

Re: SCT Collimation,

Hi

I use the current Circle Reticule for collimating my Meade SCT. It is already exactly as you describe :)
Or do you mean something else?

Re: Local galaxies. 10s frame luminance to add sharpness to colour

Great captures Tim!
I really like M106 and especially the color. If you ever get the change/possibility, see if you can capture and incorporate Ha narrow-band data into it. It has some very interesting Ha features.
