Re: Timelapse stops capturing images
Hi, thanks for posting the logs - I can see in the log that there is something odd happening at the time your short SER file is created - basically SharpCap has internally decided that it has captured enough frames when it really hasn't. That stops it from adding new frames to the file, so it never ...

Re: Using Pixinsight or Siril Photometric Color Corrections in SC Live Stack
Hi, this is quite a tricky topic, because lots of things are going on... Thinking about the data going into the image, there are two sources of colour offsets that need to be corrected in different ways 1) Different sensitivities of the colour channels of a colour camera (often green is most sensiti...

Re: SharpCap freezes when trying to connect to camera
Hi, thanks for posting the log - I can see clearly from it that the program is stuck waiting for the camera code itself to initialize. There's sadly nothing I can do about a freeze like that in the SharpCap code, but a possible thing to try would be to download and install the 32 bit version of Shar...

Re: Use of flats and darks during livestacking
Hi John, your procedures sound correct for capturing darks and flats, but I'm not sure that they will help much in the case of having noisy images.... Flats and darks have their own specific roles to play correcting certain issues that you can get when imaging, but using them will in fact add *more*...

Re: Yet another Flats question! :)
Hi, not sure about the procedure for a situation where the disc does not fill the frame - using an ROI will not work as it only gives you a flat frame for that ROI. I think in that case you would need to use something more opaque than transulcent film - a white T shirt or white piece of paper - to g...

Re: Purchase page not working
Hi, thanks for reporting - it looks like it was trying to work out the best payment currency for you based on the language settings in the request from your browser and that calculation was failing. I have changed things so that in the event of a failure of that sort, it will default to GBP (but you...

Re: Seeing thresholding interaction with capture menu
Hi William,
nice image - really good detail in there!
You can always press 'Stop Capture' if an individual video runs to more than 120s without hitting the frame count target.
cheers,
Robin

Re: Image quality while plate solving with a C14 & Starizona focal reducer
Hi, it might be worth turning off the option for SharpCap to use the focal length while testing - it does make plate solving quicker, but can cause it to fail if the entered value is significantly wrong (and sometimes reducers don't give the exact focal length expected). Once you get a plate solve s...

Re: Yet another Flats question! :)
Hi, for solar flats, you should take them with the telescope pointing so that you are looking at the middle of the sun (sun filling frame without the flat cover attached). Usually they should be good for a whole session - until you move the camera relative to the telescope by taking it off/rotating ...
