Target temperature jumping back

Hello Robin,

In the past days, I have some problems with the cool down and warm up of my cameras.
I have the same with my QHY268 and the miniCam8 (may be possible with other models).

It is the following ... for the cool down, may be the first temperature setting is fine, say from room temperature 25°C to 10°C.
After some time, I want to continue the cool down and I will set for example 0°C. The target temperature of 0°C is "active" only few seconds and then it changed itself back to the preceding target (in this case 10°C). I need to try several time different target temperature until SharpCap "accept" a new target temperature.
I have the same in the other direction during the warm up of the camera.
It takes very long time until I can set a new target temperature.

I have this behaviour with the last 4.2 beta and the last QHY drivers.

Hi,

that's a bit of an odd one, since the target temperature for QHY cameras isn't one of the controls where the value is periodically re-fetched from the SDK, so for it to change again a few seconds after adjusting something quite odd must be happening.

If the camera is running at a relatively high frame rate while this is happening, try setting longer exposures (1s+) - I have seen issues before due to most of the USB bandwidth being used up sending images, and that affecting setting camera parameters.

Beyond that, it probably comes down to enabling the enhance logging which will log SharpCap's calls to the QHY SDK so we can see what is going on at that level - the log will end up being large, but if you can pin down the time points when the issue happens it won't be too hard to find the relevant parts.

cheers,

Robin

Hello Robin,

This evening (now) I have no problem ... but I use only one camera (minCam8).
Yesterday, I used 2 cameras at the same time with 2 SharpCap. Maybe it has an effect.
I will test it with 2 or 1 camera during bad weather.

Regards,
