cameras disappeared

Post by BrianE »

I just installed the new update 14310 and my touptek camera is no longer listed. even after rescanning, reinstalling driver, rebooting. There is an ascom option but that opens up an illegible configuration window, microscopically small font.
any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi,

my guess is that this isn't related to 4.1.14310, but there has been a thing recently where recent versions of Windows have been blocking the older drivers from ToupTek and some other brands of camera that they make. If the drivers have been blocked then nothing will see your camera.

Try checking in Windows device manager. Plug the camera in and you should see it appear in the list - it may be in cameras or tucked away in 'Universal Serial Bus devices'. If it has a yellow exclamation mark then it is not correctly configured, probably no driver can be loaded. Most ToupTek cameras (at least most recent models) do not actually require the toupcam.sys driver any more - they can work with a Microsoft built in driver called 'winusb.sys'. To change to winusb.sys, do the following...

Right click the device in device manager and choose 'Properties'
In the 'Driver' tab, choose 'Update Driver'
Choose 'Browse my computer for Drivers'
Choose 'Let me pick from a list...'
The list should include a winusb option - pick that and complete the driver update

cheers,

Robin

Hello Robin,

Windows 11 Pro, SC 4.1.14310.0 Touptek AE676M <= New camera Connected the camera to PC with Touptek cable, opened SC, nothing, camera not recognized. Same computer, opened ToupSky, there's the camera, connected, all settings work. The problem does not appear to be the USB cable or Windows. Please advise.

Cheers,
