Hi to you all,

I am experiencing what I think is an issue with the focus assistant (SC 4.1, ZWO EAF with Ascom) contrast (edge) detection.

With default values, focus assistant seems to work pretty fine.

However, since I try to change Option/scan step size and/or max step count, it does not change parameters, always :

Info : 'Focus scan between 25220 and 23320 in 20 steps of 100'

Does anyone have an idea of what I'm doing wrong ?

Hi,

if you use one of the two 'Focus Scan' buttons (the Positive and Negative direction ones) then it will use the step size and count that you have selected. Having done a successful scan that way that finds the best focus, press the 'Goto Best Focus' button to finish the focusing procedure. At that point, SharpCap will remember the settings you have used (step size, number of steps, various other settings).

On the other hand, if you use one of the 'Refocus' buttons, it will use the settings that have been remembered automatically (as described above), not the settings currently set in the UI. There is currently no manual way to change the 'remembered' settings that are used for the automatic refocus, other than performing a new successful scan.
