Hi all,
I want to share a script that permit to use the speed of a RamDisk during acquisition.
First, you have to create a RamDisk, I used ImDisk software and used R:\ letter.
The script automatously create the needed folders in the RamDisk.
Once a capture is done and finished, the script transfer it on the SSD under D:\Astro\Sharpcap\Captures (please adjust it as you need).
It permit to never loose an image during high speed acquisition (I do lucky imaging for deep sky).
The script automatously not use the RamDisk for .ser and .avi and save file directly on the SSD as the amount of data can easily saturate the RamDisk size.
Enjoy !
Clear Sky.

Re: RamDisk optimisation
Hi,
thanks for sharing!
Can I ask why not just set the 'High Speed Frame Cache' memory limit in SharpCap to the size you would otherwise set aside for the ram disk. That should be more robust and rather than the assigned memory being the maximum size of the file you can capture, it is the maximum that the writing to SSD can be behind the capture (which could be a big advantage).
thanks,
Robin

Re: RamDisk optimisation
You right,
As I just get a new PC with 64Gb of ram, I was in a way to use the ram disk "everywhere it's possible" ...
But in that case, it was a bad idea !
Thanks
