Default Settings for ZWO ASI533MC Pro

#1

Post by TheAstrophotographer »

Robin,

I am having major issues on just getting SharpCap Pro to get anykind of image from Jupiter or Saturn, and M81 or M31, therefore, would it be possible to just get a information on default settings for SharpCap Pro so that I can get anykind of image from these so that I can get something?

Would really appreciate your help.

Thanks,

Edmund

Hi Edmund,
Could you give a bit more information about the rest of the kit you have the camera attached to so with know what else is there.

Cheers

Hi,

default settings for the camera usually come from the manufacturers choice of default settings, but SharpCap does set a 50ms default exposure for ZWO cameras - this is often fairly reasonable as a starting point for solar/lunar/planetary imaging, but will give you nothing in deep sky.

One thing to note is that you can configure SharpCap to automatically restore the previously used settings when opening a camera. 99% of the time this is useful, but sometimes you can end up making an unintentional change to the settings that causes problems, then that bad values gets restored again and again. You can either turn this option off in the settings or hold down CTRL while opening the camera to avoid reloading the previous settings on a one-time basis - doing this will set all the camera control settings back to defaults.

cheers,

Nick,

My imagining train includes and I do have a visual train but not sure if you need info on that:

1.) Reducer O.63
2.) UV/IR Filter
3.) NexStar 8SE OTA at 1280mm focal length with reducer
4.) Celestron AVX Mount
5.) Polar Scope Camera
6.) ZWO EAF
7.) Tracking using mount only at sidereal

I think that’s what you needed but let me know if you need more?

Basically, I think I did too many changes :o and now I am all off and can’t seem to be able to get back and I would like to just go back to default or beginning settings if possible to get things to normal again for Saturn and Jupiter only and I can go from there. Anything would be good so anything you can help me with would be so appreciated.

Next time I think I will do minimal changes and one at a time and keep a log so that I can remember what the default settings were should I get out off.

Thanks,

Edmund

Robin,

Appreciate your response and I wish I had beginning settings to go back to. That is the problem. I made so many changes and too fast, now I am lost and just need to get back to the start :| .

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks,

Edmund

In that case I think as a starting point as Robin suggested reset the camera by holding ctrl before opening the ASI533 in the sharpcap menu, If I have had my rig apart, I start by setting gain to 450 and 3s exposure to see if you can see any stars and adjust focus. At least that way you know the camera is working and you can then move on from there and look for a planet. If you can see the stars and have a stellarium App enabled that sends co ordinates to the mount you can also plate solve to get the target in shot and then adjust focus back from the stars to the planet in question works for the moon as well.

Robin,

OK, understood I believe - hold the CTRL button while selecting the 533 to return to the original defaults on the camera and away from the saved settings, hope I got that :D .

Thanks,

Edmund
