Bresser Driver BUG BIZARR...

#1

Post by JeanMarioCharest »

Hi!

I'm having a problem with my new computer, a mini-PC.

The processor is an AMD Ryzen 5 with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD.

I'm trying to get my Bresser EXOS2 German equatorial mount working on my new computer.

I also have a Dell laptop with an Intel i5 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD.

I installed an exact copy of all my astronomy programs—the same versions on my AMD as on my Intel.

Everything works on the Intel.

But I can't get the ASCOM driver for my Bresser EXOS2 mount to work; ASCOM detects an error. Also, I can't access the Stellarium settings to add a GOTO mount.

When I run ASCOM Diagnostics on my AMD, ASCOM tells me the driver has an error. But when I use the same program on my Intel, everything works perfectly!

What could be the problem?

I restarted the computer to perform an update.

And reinstalled the programs.

Yet the AMD is running Windows 11 Pro and the Intel is running Windows 11 Home.

Do you understand this bug?

I'm completely baffled...

Hi,

how does the mount connect back to the computer? Is it a USB cable or is it a serial cable that is then connected perhaps to a USB-serial converter? I am just wondering if there is some driver needed to talk to the hardware (for example the USB-serial converter if you are using one) that is missing on the new computer?

cheers,

Robin
