Unstack button is disabled while using Folder Monitor

I am using the Folder Monitor Camera to restack some fits from a capture.

Bug: During the entire stack, the Unstack button stays grey and I cannot unstack a frame. Though when stack is done with all the fits files, it becomes enabled.

Expect: Button not to be grey all the time so I can unstack a frame.

Thanks,
Cey

Hi,

you would have to press the pause button in the folder monitor controls to be able to unstack in the folder monitor.

What is happening is that you cannot unstack once the process of adding the next new frame to the stack has started. For normal capture that gives you a window of opportunity - the previous frame is done being added but the new exposure is still in progress, so you can unstack. For the folder monitor camera, it's specially set up to send the next frame as soon as the last one has finished being stacked - that makes the live stacking in folder monitor run as fast as possible, but it also means there are no windows of opportunity to unstack.

I can't change the rule about not being able to unstack while the next frame is being added (that would leave the stack in an inconsitent state - possibly with broken values). I don't think it's worth deliberately introducing a delay to allow the opportunity as you can check the files separately before stacking, so I think this has to stay as it is.

cheers,

Robin

That is what I thought might be happening. I tried setting "New Frame File Delay(s)" to 11, but that did not help.

I did not think about using the Pause button. That solved it.

Thanks,

Hi,

the new frame delay is slightly different - it is for when new files appear in the folder after the folder monitor camera is already working on the folder. The delay helps deal with the situation where whatever program is putting new frames into the folder is a bit slow writing the frames, and without the delay, SharpCap might see a new file and start trying to read it in before the other program was done writing it out.

Anyway, good that the pause helped :)

cheers,
