Tips & Tricks for a successful upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11:

1) Drivers are not always the same for different versions of Windows.
  • Best to remove Win 10 Drivers and reinstall with fresh Win 11 drivers
2) Celestron was picky in regards to the USB- Serial Port driver! 3) If moving SharpCap to a completely new machine instead of upgrading current machine, SharpCap Settings>Export Settings will export everything including profiles for you to start out exactly where you left off. The only thing it will not do is transfer your license.

Anybody else got any tips?

Just a few more general Win11 tips...

You can move the taskbar content/start button to the left - right click on the taskbar, choose Taskbar Settings, then Taskbar Behaviour, then change alignment to left

Go back to the old style right click menu : https://pureinfotech.com/bring-back-cla ... indows-11/

Stop it from reminding you to 'finish setting up your computer' if you use a local account : https://www.groovypost.com/howto/disabl ... n-windows/

Stop web results appearing in windows search : https://www.groovypost.com/howto/disabl ... indows-11/

Bypass needing to use a microsoft account when installing : currently https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/m ... quirement/

This one works on all versions of Windows 7 - 11. Robin you might really like this one as a programer:

Right click on your desktop and select New > Shortcut
Type in: perfmon /rel then click next
Type in: Reliability Monitor then click enter

Use the shortcut to graph a timeline of reliability and you can select individual problems to get to the root cause.
Makes it easier to tell if it is a driver problem or a SC problem or windows or etc.

Hi Randall,

I haven't accessed it using that approach, but I have seen that page before. Very useful for an end user, but on my machine, it's *stuffed* absolutely full of crashes from me tinkering about with stuff as I develop the software :) You can't see the interesting ones for the rubbish!

cheers,

Robin
