Strange AutoAlign Issue

Greetings all!

I am still fairly new to SharpCap, and this is my first post on this Forum.

Tonight, we were using SharpCap to capture spectroscopic data on several stars. I had been using my ZWO ASI294MC camera with no issues. However, when we switched to my ZWO ASI432MM (mono) camera, a red box appeared on screen and the star & spectra moved left and right constantly. I immediately recognized this as what happens sometimes in FireCapture when shooting planets when the AutoAlign isn't working correctly.

We assumed that there was a setting that needed to be turned off. However, we could not find a way to turn this off in SharpCap, despite looking under every menu in the software, and online. Eventually, we gave up on using my mono camera tonight and returned to using my OSC camera.

Has anyone had this issues before? How do you turn it off?

Best,

Suresh

Hello Suresh and welcome

If the red box looks like in the screenshot below, it could be that the "select an area" is active. All measurements are then done inside of that box.
To disable that, click the button that I circled green.

Hi Menno,

Sounds good. I suspected that there was a setting somewhere that caused this. I'll give it a shot.

Thank you for the help!!

Suresh

It's something there sometimes happen. The past years I've had it twice that it was turned on by (seemingly) random. And one time with only covering a few pixels, so the box wasn't even visible. So I learned to check if the icon was bright red (active) or not.
