SharpCapInstall-4.1.13268.0-64bit slow to startup

Hi Robin.
Tonight I downloaded and installed SharpCapInstall-4.1.13268.0-64bit and on startup it is very very slow to load, when it does eventually load, doing something like start folder monitor is also very slow.

I then downloaded the previous version SharpCapInstall-4.1.13285.0-64bit and it starts and works normally.

Looking at the logs for each, the striking thing is for SharpCapInstall-4.1.13268.0-64bit the log reports "Starting SharpCap v4.1.13268.0 (X64, 64 bit)" on the first line. But for SharpCapInstall-4.1.13285.0-64bit the first line of the log says "Starting SharpCap v4.1.9418.0 (X64, 64 bit)". The version reported is very old.

Is there a problem with the latest version on the website or am I doing something odd?

I have attached two log files for you to see this and also a screen shot showing the two files I downloaded and installed today.

Hi Phil,

yes, I've seen the odd version number in my own logs and puzzled over it a bit, but couldn't quite work out why that particular version has conflicting views about its own version number. My initial conclusion was that it was a harmless glitch of the way the version numbers get generated, but at that point I hadn't seen any issues like your 'stuck when loading' issue.

Interestingly, there are no changes between 268 and 285 in the SharpCap code that should affect things so early in the start up of the application, which leaves two or three possibilities...

* An update to the Moravian camera DLLs could be causing this - try deleting cxUSB.dll and gxUSB.dll from the SharpCap folder with 285 installed and see if that helps.

* An update to the tools that I use to build SharpCap has introduced a problem between the point when I made version 268 and the point where I made 285 - I will have to dig into that

* Pure random bad luck glitched something in the build of 285 - in which case the next version should be fine.

I will keep an eye on things for the next update to see if I still see the version number gremlin, which might be a separate aspect of the same underlying issue.

I have encountered also an Ascom communication problem between SkyMap Pro 11 and Sharpcap. This has never happened with previous versions

Deleting the cx and gxUSB.DLL did not solve the problem.

I have today installed 4.1.13295.0
I am currently about an hour into a Solar animation and happy to report that SharpCap is working well right from start up. Thanks for getting on top of the issue.

Yep, I can also confirm my reported issue seems fixed in 295.
