Howto set filter offset with Pegasus Indigo

Hi,

I recently changed from a ZWO EFW to a Pegasus Indigo and want to set the filter offsets for focusing. It seems SC just starts the Pegasus Unity platform for the FW but there is no place (I can find) to set individual filter offset amounts.

Any guidance appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken

Hi Ken,

I don't have the Pegasus wheel (although I have Pegasus focusers and a power box). However, the documentation is online here - https://pegasusastro.com/wp-content/upl ... l_v1_1.pdf. On page 15 it mentions filter offsets and if you zoom in on the screenshot, it looks like the filter offset entry is on the right hand side. I suspect that you have to click on one of the filters to select it for that adjustment to appear.

cheers,

Robin

Hi Robin,

I contacted Pegasus and they advised that their offset is - "The Indigo FW offset setting is for adjusting the filter centering after filter changes."

They further advised that individual filter offsets for focusing would be provided in the astro apps like NINA.

It looks like I will have to disable the use of offsets as it is not recorded in their ASCOM driver etc.. I take it that you source those offsets from the ZWO ASCOM driver.

Thanks,
Ken

Hi Ken,

yes, the bulk of the ASCOM filter wheel drivers provide a way to set the offsets in their setup - it's all specified in ASCOM that the offsets should be available to applications like SharpCap and should be setup via the ASCOM Setup window for that driver. That way you do it once and all applications can use the data, rather than set it up in each application individually.

I'd be really surprised if they are not implementing that - it's a big missing feature :(

cheers,

Robin

Thanks Robin - I sent a note to them to see if they will implement it in future ASCOM drivers -
https://ascom-standards.org/help/develo ... heelV3.htm

For now my workflow will include an autofocus routine with filter changes albeit with a lot more routine time with some darker filters.
