Planewave MoveAxis

#1

Post by dvelledge »

Hello,

I have seen a number of items posted around scopes that lack a move axis command which is used to move a scope.

I have a planewave mount and use PWI4 software. This also does not have a MoveAxis command. I am using the software to run a CDK700 in Alt/Az configuration.

I wanted to understand if there was a workaround.

So as I do more research:

SharpCap Uses the Ascom PulseGuide() to Dither the Scope. Will the system also use pulseguide() to center the image.

Planewave only supports PulseDrive(), it does not support MoveAxis(). My main concern is to be able to have Sharpcap keep the targets in the center of the FOV. I don't really need to move the scope through sharpcap manually.

Thanks for your support.

Hi,

for SharpCap's feature tracking tool, you can use the pulse guiding movement for both calibration and keeping things centered (although the calibration will be slow because the movement rate is slow). This should work for you for solar/lunar/planetary tracking. For deep sky, you are much better using a dedicated guide application like PHD2 on a separate guide camera.

cheers,

Robin
