Hello,
I have seen a number of items posted around scopes that lack a move axis command which is used to move a scope.
I have a planewave mount and use PWI4 software. This also does not have a MoveAxis command. I am using the software to run a CDK700 in Alt/Az configuration.
I wanted to understand if there was a workaround.

Re: Planewave MoveAxis
Hi Don,
there isn't a generic workaround for a lack of the moveaxis command in ASCOM drivers, so you will end up without access to the movement buttons for the mount in SharpCap and a couple of other features that rely on it won't work either.
If the manufacturers own software on the PC has movement buttons that can be pressed to move the telescope axes, then that indicates that it's possible to do but the manufacturers haven't added the implementation to their ASCOM driver. The ideal solution in that case is to raise a support request with Planewave to get them to add support to the ASCOM driver. If there is no PC software at all that has movement buttons then maybe the communications protocol with the mount doesn't have a way to request a direct axis move, in which case the problem is insoluble (at least without a mount firmware upgrade from the manufacturer).
Of course, the first thing to do (if you haven't already) is to check you have the very latest version of the ASCOM driver...
cheers,
Robin
