Locking the reticle?

The reticle feature is very handy. Is there a way to lock the position? If not it would be a great new feature.
I use the reticle to align my finder scope with the guide camera/ slit position on my spectroscope. Since the guide camera only about a 12 minute FOV it's important to get and keep them aligned. The reticle is too easy to accidentally change its position. When I accidently move it, I have to spend a great deal of time realigning.
What's the solution?

Hi Joe,
use the 'Multi reticule' tool - that lets you position more than one reticule, lock the positions and also will save the positions from one run of SharpCap to the next, so once you have the position set once you shouldn't need to worry again.
cheers,
Robin

Hello Joe,
If you have the Pro version, then you can use my script for the saving of the position of the reticules for 3 different cameras.
You need one of the last version of SharpCap (with the Alternative Crosshair reticule).
The position and rotation of the reticules are saved in the text files.
Copy the ZIP file somewhere and unzip it. You can use the script "Reticules_2024-10-05.py" in the IronPython console.
For the menu version "Reticules_2024-10-05_menu.py", you need some preparation in the "File" - "SharpCap Settings" - "Startup-Script".
You need to restart SharpCap.
You can save the position of the reticules for 3 different cameras ... finder, guider and science.
I wrote the script for my observations with my spectrometer.
In addition you can place a small rectangle for simulating the slit position.
Regards,
Jean-Francois

Thanks so much for the information about the multiple reticle tool. Not sure how I missed the Multi Reticules function in the the Help but now that I know what I should have looked for there it is!
I'm not sure I need the scripts. I will give the basic function a try next time out and see how it goes.
It is a major relief knowing how to keep the reticle position. It will save me a lot of time and frustration in the future.
Thank you very much for your help!
Joe
